Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is an American actor, producer, and former professional wrestler. Born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California, Johnson gained fame and popularity during his wrestling career in the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE). He became one of the most recognizable and beloved wrestlers of his time, often adopting the persona of "The Rock" and entertaining audiences with his charismatic personality and peerless microphone skills.

Following his successful wrestling career, Johnson transitioned into acting and quickly made a name (and lots of cash) for himself in Hollywood. He has starred in various blockbuster films, including the Fast & Furious franchise, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Moana, and San Andreas, among many others.

Known for his charismatic on-screen presence, Johnson has become one of the highest-paid and most bankable actors in the industry, and with such success comes the purchasing power for some of the world’s most expensive cars. Don’t check out these ultra-expensive cars and think, “Is that all he does with his money?” The Rock is also involved in philanthropy and charitable causes, particularly those related to children and healthcare.

Perhaps, what defines The Rock the most is his dedication to fitness and incredible physique, and all his cars reflect this passion for power and muscle. For a man as big, as rich, and as charismatic as The Rock, it makes sense to be curious about what kind of car Dwayne Johnson drives. Well, here they are, along with the best alternatives for the not-so-rich.

11. Plymouth Prowler

  • Price: $30,000
  • Best Alternative: The Mazda MX-5 Miata is an excellent alternative to the Plymouth Prowler. While the MX-5 has a different design and style, it offers a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive roadster experience similar to what the Prowler aimed to provide. The MX-5 is known for its nimble handling, affordability, and strong enthusiast community. Although it lacks the hot rod aesthetic of the Prowler, the MX-5 delivers an enjoyable open-top driving experience at a significantly lower price point.

Details: Yes, Dwayne Johnson couldn’t help but fall in love with the Plymouth Prowler after both co-starred in the 2013 comedy film with Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Mackie. Unfortunately, the love story was short-lived, as we hear The Rock later sold the car valued at around $30,000.

The Plymouth Prowler is a retro-style sports car produced by Chrysler in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Rock's Plymouth Prowler was customized with a unique silver and black paint job and custom rims. He was seen driving a purple metallic Prowler in the movie "Pain and Gain."

Produced between 1997 and 2002, the Prowler stood out with an open-wheel design featuring a long hood, short rear deck, and prominent front fenders. The early models (1997-1999) used a 3.5-liter SOHC V6 engine producing around 214 horsepower. Later models (2001-2002) received a more powerful 3.5-liter V6 with an increased output of approximately 253 horsepower, mated to a four-speed Autostick automatic transmission.

Unlike the other cars that caught Johnson’s fancy, the Prowler isn’t a high-performance sports car by contemporary standards. Apparently, the car’s unique appearance and relatively agile handling were insufficient to keep Mr. Johnson's attention.

The car is relatively cheap, but the limited production numbers might make them rare. In that case, thank God for the MX-5 Miata

10. 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

  • Average Retail Price: $52,700
  • Best Alternative: The 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a compelling cheaper alternative to the Chevrolet Chevelle SS. Both cars are iconic American muscle cars from the early 1970s with high collectible value, but the Mustang Mach 1 might be comparatively more accessible in terms of availability and pricing.

Details: The 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is a classic muscle car produced during the golden era of American muscle cars. It features a powerful V8 engine and a stylish design that captures the essence of the era.

The Chevelle SS was available with various engine options, the most potent of which was the 454 cubic-inch (7.4-liter) V8. The LS5 version produced 365 horsepower, while the LS6 variant was an even more formidable option, delivering 425 horsepower. There were 4-speed manual and 3-speed automatic transmissions available.

The 1971 Chevelle SS is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts today, not only for its performance but also for its iconic design and representation of the golden age of American muscle cars.

Dwayne Johnson's Chevelle SS is a restomod, which means it has been modified with modern upgrades while still maintaining its classic appearance. The exact details of the modifications done to his Chevelle SS are not widely available, but it is safe to assume that the car was customized to his taste. It’s the same Chevelle SS he drove in Faster

If you fancy a ‘71 Chevelle SS, you’re most likely looking for the best of classic American muscle experience, which you can also get from the 1971 Mustang Mach 1, albeit at a cheaper price. Using Classic.com’s auction history value calculator, a budget of $36,000 should get you a ‘71 Mach 1.

9. Ford Hennessey VelociRaptor

  • Price: $150,000
  • Cheaper Alternative: The 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the perfect alternative to Dwayne Johnson’s Hennessey-modified VelociRaptor.  With 720 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, the new Raptor R makes more power than the Ford GT, making it the bodybuilder in the family. The R starts at $111,550.

Details: The Ford Hennessey VelociRaptor is a modified version of the Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck. It is customized by the renowned tuning company Hennessey Performance, known for its high-performance upgrades.

The VelociRaptor 600 features a powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with Hennessey's enhancements, including high-flow air induction, an upgraded intercooler, and a stainless steel exhaust system. These modifications increase the power output to an impressive 600 horsepower.

The stock EcoBoost turbocharged V6 could make 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, which apparently wasn’t enough for The Rock.

Hennessey’s VelociRaptor 600 featured a specially upgraded suspension system with Fox Racing shocks, resulting in increased ground clearance and superior damping for tackling rough terrains. The exterior features include wide fender flares, custom front and rear bumpers, and a distinctive Hennessey grille.

Reportedly priced at $150,000, The Rock did not actually pay for the VelociRaptor but got it as a gift from HBO for his performance in the movie Ballers. The Rock would later gift the truck to Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez in November 2021.

8. Lamborghini Huracán

  • Price: $261,274
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Porsche 911 Carrera is a strong, cheaper alternative to the Lamborghini Huracán. It offers impressive performance, a refined design, and a prestigious brand, all at a relatively more affordable price point compared to the Huracán. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, providing quick and seamless gear shifts.

Lamborghini has released several variants of the Huracán, including the Huracán Performante with enhanced aerodynamics and additional power, and the Huracán Evo with improved performance and advanced technologies.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reportedly paid over $260,000 for this supercar, but you might find yourself just as happy and with more cash in the bank with the quintessential sports car – Porsche 911 Carrerra

7. McLaren 650S

  • Price: $309,000
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Audi R8 is a compelling and more affordable alternative to the McLaren 650S. The Audi R8 offers impressive performance, striking design, and a well-crafted interior. While it may not match the extreme performance of the McLaren 650S, the R8 provides a great balance of speed and everyday usability.

Details: Introduced in 2014, the McLaren 650S is positioned between the McLaren 12C and the more track-focused McLaren P1 (which The Rock also owns).

Powering the McLaren 650S is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 641 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 60 mph in around 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 207 mph. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with lightning-fast gear shifts.

The 650S’s design is inspired by McLaren's Formula 1 heritage, marked by a sleek and aerodynamic body with intricate details and aggressive styling. The distinctive dihedral doors, carbon fiber accents, and large air intakes contribute to both form and function.

Inside the cabin, the focus is on driver-centric features and a luxurious yet sporty environment. The 650S incorporates advanced aerodynamics and suspension technology to maximize performance.

It utilizes McLaren's innovative ProActive Chassis Control system, which adjusts the suspension in real time based on road conditions and driver input. This ensures exceptional handling and stability, offering precise and engaging driving dynamics.

If there was a car befitting a Fast & Furious star, the McLaren 650S it is, even though it offers a range of driving modes, including Normal, Sport, and Track.

If Dwayne sees nothing wrong in squeezing his 'rocky' frame into the 650S, what in the world could possibly be wrong with squeezing out around half of the price for a new Audi R8?

6. Rolls-Royce Cullinan

  • Price: $330,000
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Lincoln Navigator is a solid and more affordable alternative to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The Navigator offers a spacious and luxurious interior, advanced technology features, and a commanding presence on the road. Details: The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a luxury SUV introduced by the British automaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in 2018. It is the first-ever SUV in Rolls-Royce's lineup, offering a combination of off-road capability, opulent luxury, and cutting-edge technology.

Named after the largest diamond ever discovered, the Cullinan has proven to be a favorite of larger-than-life superstars like Nicki Minaj, Kylie Jenner, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The SUV features a distinctive design with smooth lines, a prominent front grille, and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. The large size and high ground clearance give it a commanding presence reflecting the high-powered passengers within.

The interior is crafted with the utmost attention to detail and luxurious materials. It offers seating for up to five passengers, with rear seating options such as a lounge configuration or individual seats with a center console.

For propulsion power, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan relies on a potent 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine producing 563 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This power allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Lincoln Navigator is hardly a poor man’s Cullinan, seeing as the Navigator's $85,000 starting price is far from a "poor man's" budget. However, the luxury American SUV is the next best thing at a cheaper price after the British-made Cullinan.

5. Rolls-Royce Wraith

The Wraith’s striking design exudes elegance and sophistication to match The Rock’s persona. The iconic Rolls-Royce grille, the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, and the rear-hinged coach doors add to its distinctiveness.

Like the VelociRaptor, the rumor mill says Mr. Johnson also got the Wraith as a gift from the Ballers’ production team, as it was one of the cars the star got to drive in the $7 million movie.

If Dwayne didn’t pay the over $300,000 starting price for the Wraith, you don’t have to either. The Bentley Continental GT is just as grand and cheaper.

4. 2017 Ford GT

  • Price: $1 Million
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is often considered a strong and more affordable alternative to the 2017 Ford GT. While not a direct match in terms of exclusivity, the Corvette Z06 offers impressive performance, especially in terms of horsepower and handling.

Details: The 2017 Ford GT is, frankly, our favorite car in Dwayne Johnson’s car collection. Although valued at a million dollars, Essential Sports reported that The Rock got this car for “the bargain price of $450,000. Whew.

Perhaps, the star got the GT at such a good price because he’s a Ford ambassador. If we can’t afford one, then the Corvette Z06 is our best alternative. The Rock’s GT is a limited-production, exotic supercar that pays homage to the iconic Ford GT40 from the 1960s.

The car’s striking design is aerodynamically optimized to deliver both performance and striking aesthetics. It features a low, sleek profile with aggressive lines and distinct air vents. The body panels are primarily lightweight carbon fiber, contributing to the GT’s impressive power-to-weight ratio.

Powering the Ford GT is a mid-mounted 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that generates 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque, enough to propel it to a top speed of 216 mph and 0-60 mph acceleration in 3 seconds. The engine is married to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission routing power to the rear wheels.

The new GT showcases advanced technology and engineering, including active aerodynamics, such as an adjustable rear wing and front splitter, to maximize downforce and enhance stability at high speeds. The suspension is also adjustable and can be set to different driving modes to optimize performance.

3. McLaren P1

  • Price: $1.150 Million
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Porsche 918 Spyder wins our hearts as a compelling and more affordable alternative to the McLaren P1. Both cars were part of the "holy trinity" of hypercars along with the LaFerrari. The Porsche 918 Spyder offers exceptional hybrid performance, advanced technology, and stunning design. While it may not match the sheer power and exclusivity of the McLaren P1, the 918 Spyder provides an impressive combination of speed, handling, and efficiency.

Details: Dwayne Johnson’s McLaren P1 is one of only 375 copies of the limited-production hybrid hypercars ever made. Introduced in 2013 and produced until 2015, the P1 represents the pinnacle of McLaren's automotive engineering and technology.

The McLaren P1 is powered by a combination of a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor. The V8 engine produces 727 horsepower, while the electric motor adds 177 horsepower, resulting in a combined power output of 903 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

The power is transferred to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The McLaren P1 delivers exceptional performance, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and registering a top speed of 217 mph. One of the P1’s key features is its advanced aerodynamics.

It incorporates active aerodynamic elements, such as an adjustable rear wing and flaps, to increase downforce and improve stability at high speeds. The carbon fiber body panels are not only lightweight but also designed to generate aerodynamic efficiency.

The interior uses a minimalist design approach, focusing on weight reduction and the driver's experience. It features lightweight carbon fiber seats, a digital instrument cluster, and a center console with controls for various driving settings.

The P1 also offers a unique driving mode called "Race Mode," which optimizes performance for track use. Activated, it lowers the ride height, stiffens the suspension, and adjusts the aerodynamic elements to provide maximum downforce and stability on the race track.

It’s hard to think of a low-cost alternative to match the P1’s mettle, but the Porsche 918 Spyder can’t help but come to mind.

2. Ferrari LaFerrari

  • Price: $1.4 Million
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Porsche 918 Spyder wins our hearts again as the best cheaper alternative to the Ferrari LaFerrari. Both are part of the "holy trinity" along with the McLaren P1.

The power travels to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

According to SupercarBlondie, Dwayne Johnson’s LaFerrari “was yet another gift from the Ballers production team.” The star posted about the car in 2015, calling it one of around 25 matte-white examples of the only 499 units made.

Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, the Ferrari LaFerrari can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of over 217 mph. The LaFerrari’s design is a mix of aerodynamics and elegant style. It features a low and sleek profile with fluid lines and aggressive details.

The exterior design is not only visually striking but also optimized for aerodynamic efficiency, providing incredible downforce and stability at high speeds. Inside the cabin, the LaFerrari offers a driver-focused environment with a combination of luxury and functionality.

The seating position is low, and the controls are within easy reach of the driver. The materials and craftsmanship throughout the interior reflect the attention to detail and high-quality standards synonymous with Ferrari.

With production limited to just 499 units, owning a Ferrari LaFerrari is a privilege reserved for a fortunate few like The Rock. This car has changed hands for up to $3.910 million at auction, making the Porsche 918 Spyder suddenly look like a low-hanging fruit for us penny pinchers.

1. Pagani Huayra

  • Price: $2.420 Million
  • Cheaper Alternative: The Koenigsegg Jesko is the best, more affordable alternative to the Pagani Huayra. While both cars are exclusive hypercars with stunning design and performance, the Koenigsegg Jesko offers a unique combination of innovation, speed, and craftsmanship. It doesn’t match the Pagani’s exact artisanal craftsmanship, but the Jesko is the next best thing for those seeking extraordinary performance in a hypercar without the same premium price tag as the Pagani Huayra.

Details: This would’ve been Dwayne Johnson’s most valuable car, but it is, in fact, not his car. The big man merely borrowed it because he couldn’t think of a grander car to make a grand entrance at the Ballers movie premiere.

The Pagani Huayra hypercar is named after the Andean god of wind. It’s a marvel of engineering and design, delivering blistering performance and unparalleled craftsmanship.

Powering the Huayra is a Mercedes-AMG-derived 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine generating up to 700 horsepower and a massive 811 lb-ft of torque. The engine is married to a seven-speed automated manual transmission providing lightning-fast gear changes.

The Huayra can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just around 3 seconds and has a top speed of over 230 mph. The car’s lightweight construction, thanks to a carbon fiber body and chassis, allows for impressive handling and agility.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Pagani Huayra.

Pagani is known for its meticulous attention to detail and customization options, allowing customers to personalize their Huayra to their exact specifications. The company offers a wide range of options for the exterior finish, interior trim, and special features, ensuring each Huayra is a truly unique masterpiece.

The Pagani Huayra is also big on exclusivity. With a limited production run, every Huayra is a rare and highly sought-after collector's item.

For example, the one Dwayne Johnson drove to the Ballers premiere was labeled Project Vulcan, and that’s how we know it’s the one-off project commissioned by Pagani’s official Florida dealer, Brett David.
